When we care for young children, it is hard to see them in distress. We worry when a child seems to be overanxious, has a lot of difficulty separating from their parents, needs to complete certain actions before they can move on, or has difficulty falling asleep. While some of these behaviours can be developmentally normal, this presentation will explore the underlying emotion of alarm that fuels such behaviours. Young children are easily alarmed and how we respond can make a big difference. Some interventions can inadvertently make things worse, and the presenter will explain why. Then we will look at some interventions that can be helpful.
Presented by Eva de Gosztonyi, Psychologist and Senior faculty with the Neufeld Institute.
All registered participants will receive the Zoom link by email a day or two prior to the event.
