Happy Feliz Home Childcare
Raising Active, Caring and Healthy Children
T: (613) 912-3797, C: (613) 762-2076; Email: [email protected]
I am the owner and childcare provider at my Happy Feliz Home Childcare. I am an RECE or Registered Early Childhood Educator with the Ontario College of ECE (www.college-ece.ca). I live with my husband and my 2 children (ages 6 and 11). We also have small pets at home: a dwarf hamster, 2 turtles in a tank, and fish in an aquarium.
Happy Feliz Home Childcare was born out of love and passion to work with children and influence them positively from a very early age. I strongly believe that early childhood is the fertile ground where lifelong habits are formed and the future of our communities and the world resides, thus we need to invest in it with tender and careful care. I have been teaching yoga for children since 2005 and I started my home childcare in 2010.
My work with children and adults as both, yoga teacher and educator, fuels my passion for a qualitative early childhood program in a home setting environment. It is my goal to support the upbringing of a more peaceful, self-aware, and healthy society by raising active, caring, and happy children with a holistic approach to education and childcare. I also loved the freedom, creativity, and challenges of being an entrepreneur with a focus on the integration of other aspects of my education such as yoga and computer sciences/mathematics into childcare.
I am part of the Child Care Provider Resource Network (CCPRN) and I graduated with honors on Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma at Algonquin College in January 2019. My police record check as well as my CPR/First AID training by St. John Ambulance is up to date. I also continue my education by taking workshops and online courses related to research and development in early childhood education and general education. Other fields of my interest are humanistic and linguistic sciences, psychology and neurosciences, as well as physical education and kinesiology which I can apply and relate to my work as an RECE educator. Furthermore, my status as RECE requires continuous professional learning thus it incites my motivation and reassures the parents about my up-to-date education in the field.
I offer children a warm and loving environment which nurtures their body and minds. I provide a program that allows many daily opportunities for the children to learn safely and at their own pace, through play and exploration as well as through structured activities. The program I provide includes daily active physical activity, wholesome nutrition with freshly made food and organic dirty dozen, and learning of Spanish language along with English and some French.
This childcare program is not licensed by the Government of Ontario. However, I follow the standards as set out in Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) applied to home-based child care. They include procedures and regulations for the health, safety, and developmental needs of the children. I welcome parents to screen, approve and monitor my practices as one of the best ways to get involved in the quality of their child’s care, as well as to support standardization of home-based childcare in Ontario. Parents and caregivers are daily encouraged and prompted to ask questions and observe the environment and children’s interactions with it and with each other to learn about their children’s day and recognize how the home childcare practices and policies work and shape their children’s learning. Parents are also provided with a detailed monthly report that includes pictures and/or videos with analysis on observations and learning advances of their child. The monthly report informs the parents and promotes their knowledge and understanding about what, when, and how the children learn and how their needs are met in childcare.
In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, swimming, traveling with my family, dancing, watching movies, cooking, reading, listening to music, practicing meditation and yoga, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
I look forward to meeting you and your child and grow together in caring for the most precious wonders of life: children.
