The workshops provided by Around the Rainbow are designed to engage schools, service providers and organizations in learning about the diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
Our workshops and resources are tailored to meet the learning goals of each organization and to support organizations and individuals to develop approaches to foster LGBTQ+ inclusive environments.
Workshops help participants:
Understand the difference between sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression
Identify common terminology to express sexual orientation and gender identity, including gender-neutral language and pronouns
Learn about provincial and federal protections regarding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression
Recognize & reduce heteronormativity, transphobia and microaggressions
Create a safe and LGBTQ+ inclusive environment
Lisa Montroy (She/They) is a Trainer and Public Education worker at Family Services Ottawa. Lisa works closely with families, schools and organizations to provide education and support regarding gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation and facilitates several support groups for the LGBTQ+ community of all ages in Ottawa.
